Davenport House in the heart of Savannah, built in 1820 by master builder Isaiah Davenport for his wife and their ten children.
This historic treasure tells the story of a city shaped by vision, resilience, and community.
Perched on Columbia Square in Savannah’s Historic District, the Davenport House remains one of the city’s finest examples of Federal-style architecture and early 19th-century craftsmanship. When the house faced demolition in the 1950s, a community-led rescue launched the movement that became the Historic Savannah Foundation; the home opened as a museum in 1963 and continues to welcome visitors who come to see its period rooms, elliptical staircase, and carefully restored details.
